The “Passion in Gouache” exhibition is an exciting premiere of a signature technique in gouache by Fitz Maurice.
Laguna Beach artist Fitz Maurice is a winner of the New York Jackson Pollock-Lee Krasner Award. Internationally acclaimed, Maurice’s work was chosen by juries to represent the United States in the Florence Biennale and the Paris Triennale. The German Parliament exhibited Fitz Maurice’s Berlin Series as the artistic rendition of the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the Reunification, also collecting a painting for their Permanent Collection. The United Nations World Conference in Vienna exhibited “The War of Human Rights” as the International Symbol of Human Rights; this oil painting has toured worldwide and was featured on the front page of the Los Angeles Times.
This year 2011, Fitz Maurice painted a 12-foot mural, now actively touring nationally, for the Art Miles Mural Project being dedicated to the Manhattan Memorial Museum to be exhibited during the New York 9/11 Tribute this September. In 2009, the New York Queens Museum of Fine Art gave Fitz Maurice a major one-artist exhibition, and Mayor Bloomberg honored the artist with the Unisphere Award.
