Robin Spencer

Artist Statement:

Robin has a long and diverse background in the arts.  She has worked extensively in ceramics, oil on canvas, glass mosaic, and fused glass.  Her fascination with glass began in high school when she watched the glass blowing demonstration at the Sawdust Art Festival.  A constant in all her work is her fascination with color, texture and a harmony of design, often highlighted by an unexpected element, such as a small touch of watery transparency in an otherwise opaque piece.  Often she includes torch worked elements in her creations.    

A second generation Southern Californian, Robin is drawn to the ocean and coastal regions, often sailing with her husband in the waters between San Diego and the Channel Islands. She draws inspiration from the unique color and light of the region. She is fearless in her use of color and is always in pursuit of a new interpretation of her environment.
