Melissa has always had a passion for glass. Her journey began with a specially arranged tour which included visits to the studios of three well-known glass blowers. The experience ignited the flame of desire that led to a life-long obsession with the creation of Glass Art. Melissa later moved to Palos Verdes, California to begin the study of glass painting, fusing and slumping. She immediately acquired the necessary equipment and continued to develop; adding layered fusing to her studies, and began her own experimentation. Melissa began study under a 30 year glasswork veteran. These further studies led to her own combinations of simple principles and complicated techniques yielding her first masterpieces. She participated in many special hands-on seminars.
Dichroic glass has always been a passion and a specialty of Melissa’s and continuing studies have always included innovative experimentation leading to the development of highly refined and specialized techniques that are known only to her.
The mastery of Glass Art and her own techniques has paid off as evidenced by the many awards and tributes she has began to accumulate. She has won four First Place trophies, three Best of Class and one Best of Classification in the last three competitions she has entered.
