With the influence of his mother, a painter, and the art he studied in high school ceramics, painting, and sculpture, Christopher was drawn to a life empowered by art. But it was not until he was introduced to glassblowing in junior college, seeing the malleable liquid substance transform into solid wonders, did the seed of becoming a glassblower get planted.
Still interested in learning more about art history and other mediums of artistic expression, Christopher moved to Florence, Italy, where he studied sculpture and design at Lorenzo De Medicie, the Art Institute of Florence.
Though his experience in Florence was invaluable to further understanding various elements of art, he was passionate about returning back to the United States. Christopher received his Bachelor of Arts degree at California State University of Chico, and beginning his journey of becoming a professional glassblower. Starting out at Chico State, Christopher was encouraged to expand his horizons and went to Haystack School of Crafts, in Maine, where he was taught by Sonja Blomdhal, know for the incalmo technique, which involves combining multiple pieces of glass. Then off to Penland School of Crafts, in North Carolina, which allowed him to interact with working professionals in their respective fields.
Christopher was then invited by Dale Chihuly, to come to work at the prestigious “Boat House.” He helped the Chihuly team make various forms of art, and learned the workings of a large production studio.
In 2000, after graduating from Chico State, Christopher moved to the Czech Republic, where he studied under a Czech master glassblower, Igor Muller. He lived there for one year and learned the deep rooted history in glass, through their new ways of designing and approaching this art form.
With these invaluable experiences Christopher returned to the U.S., in 2001. Since his return, he now creates his own glass designs in Laguna Beach.
